It's about time!

Well, as you probably already know, Sophia arrived about...21 weeks ago! Oops...so I've been a little busy :o)
I do apologize to our 3 faithful followers for my lack of updates, but since all of you have actually met Sophia, I feel ok updating you 4 months later.

Sophie is amazing. Simply amazing. She's almost 5 months old, and she already turns over, sticks her tongue out, eats like a champ, has 2 bottom teeth, and is starting to talk. She will probably also be one of those toddlers who walk before they crawl, seeing as how she almost stands up unassisted already.

I guess I should start at the beginning. Sophia Faith Morago was born on 11/11/09 (Veteran's day for proud daddy and the same birthday as her cousins Ashleigh and Jonny.) She was born 6 lbs 13 ozs and 21 inches after a few hours of inducing, then an emergency C-section. Her cord was wrapped around her thighs and arms, which explains the kicking and flipping I was feeling for weeks. She was so tiny at first, and lost over a pound in her first week, but quickly started growing.

By month one, Sophie was completely healthy and on 100% formula, after I discovered I was unable to breast feed. I went through months of depression, and had to take a few weeks worth of medication to eventually beat it. We had a lot of help from family, and by 2 months old Sophia had met almost all of my family, Camilo's dad came for a surprise visit, and his mom, Ana, came in January. (Everyone else will be meeting her in July when we travel for her first trip on an airplane to California!)

We have had so much fun with Sophia at her first Thanksgiving, Christmas, first snowfall, Valentine's Day, St. Patty's Day, and now Easter!

She's had a few firsts too! She has her first 2 teeth now coming in on the bottom, she's had her first rice cereal, her first smiles and laughs, and so many other moments I've tried to document on film. If only I could record every moment somehow.

As we're approaching month 5, Sophia is already about 16 lbs, and has grown to the top percentile for her height and weight. It's hard to believe she was so tiny before. Camilo and I already look back through photos and are in awe of her growth and learning progress throughout her short little life so far. We can't wait to see what she will do next, and anxiously await her first words.

We are so grateful for the people and events in our lives for the past year. Losing my job and having to move out of our apartment only 2 days after discovering we were expecting was definitely a blessing in disguise. God works in wonderous ways, and the proof of it all was moving into our new beautiful house, having a nursery ready for our baby, spending my entire pregnancy resting at home and stress-free, and getting to spend every day since Sophia's birth with my angel. We continue to pray that Camilo's business prospers and our finances will allow me to stay at home with her for at least her first year. We are so thankful for all of the help and support from all of our family and friends for the last 5 months. We love you all!
